How do I apply a heat pack to my dog?
My dog has been limping lately and my vet thinks he pulled a muscle. She said to apply a warm compress to his leg to help w/ the soreness. I didn’t think when I was there to ask exactly how. When i went o put one on I ran into that problem. I tried to ace bandage it on and he just pulled it off, any other suggestion?
You can “hot pack” your dogs leg by having him lay down in a comfortable spot and apply a slightly damp, warm (make sure it is not too hot) terrycloth towel. Have a bowl of very warm water handy to dip the towel into (wring it out well) to warm it back up when it cools down. This usually feels good to a dog with a sore muscle and the moist heat helps the muscle to relax. Good luck!
